Reconstruction of roof and constructive part of a structure of a former Paher-Kisić (Pacher-Kisic) bookshop
Basic information:
The project provides for and carries out reconstruction of the roof truss, as well as the floor constructions of the structure. Pertinent structure is located at cadastral plot (abbreaviated to c. .p.) number 3483 of the cadastral municipality (abbreviated to c. m.) Mostar in M. Tita (Marshall Tito Street) and it belongs to Austro-Hungarian period of construction with characteristic elements of load-bearing assembly consisting of massive stone walls and floor constructions in the form of shallow vaults leaning against steel girders spaced 1.2 m.
Within load-bearing walls (65 centimetres thick) flat iron tension elements were built in at the level of intermediate floors, construction of the roof truss is wooden, and the roof covering is of clay pantile.
Base of the structure is irregular and it is in the shape of the letter „L“. The number of floors is ground floor + floor.
Description of the project
The suggestion of the measures from this project has been provided on the strength of the visual inspection of the construction, as well as identification of the present bearing elements and the damages of a part of the load-bearing walls and the intermediate floors of the structure. The project covers and implements as well the reinforcement of the front wall facing the street by adding reinforced concrete wall along the entire surface on the interior side, and the present stone wall is tied to a new reinforced concrete wall with the help of steel anchors.
Present stone walls as well as stone cornices facing the street have been disassembled as deep as 50 centimetres in relation to the end of the wall and those walls have been underpinned in lime cement mortar. The remains of the floor constructions have been disassembled, and after that new intermediate floors have been made.
After fabrication of the basic load-bearing part of the construction, one set down to reconstruct the decorative elements on the front facade by cutting damaged stone blocks and they were replaced with the new stone blocks in such a way that original look of the facade wall is preserved.
The works were carried out in the period of August 2014-January 2015.
