DESCRIPTION OF ARCHITECTURAL ENSEMBLE
In accordance with writing of friar Petar Bakula, „On the left side from the main entrance there are stairs, which lead to the upper floor. Those stairs introduce you into a big hall of the house.Hall, seven cubits wide, runs in its entire length along the house. At both ends there are two big rostrum windows running from top to bottom. On both sides of a big dining room are lined rooms, four of them on each side.."
The structure of the Old Bishop palace was connected by means of a porch with an auxiliary structure on the western side.Auxiliary structure functioned as a residential structure with kitchen, bakery, a small dining room and a room.It has been built out of blocks of dressed stone.The angles of the structure are stressed with properly dressed stone. A high chimney accentuated the structure.The structures were covered with gable roof whose construction is nowadays completely caved in.
In addition to connection by way of attic from the structure of Old Bishop palace, one could access directly to the auxiliary structure through the door in the southern part of the western wall of the second floor.
"With its northern side the auxiliary structure used to lean against another structure which had a cellar with arches, and on the floor, according to the materials from the archive, there was a small chapel where one could perform the entire rite of baptism by the altar. These two structures are connected and their finishing properties follow the line of fair-forced brickwork. In the garden, among these structures and (official) residence, there is a big fountain which supplied old bishop palace with water.
In accordance with writing of friar Petar Bakula, „with the abovementioned dining room, kitchen and house, another house was jointed with the help of courtyard, which has basement with a vault underground, upstairs, on the floor, there is a small chapel to keep the holy mystery and a room. This house is 16 cubits long and 10 wide. Between this and a large house, in the middle of the courtyard, there is a well, where rain water from the roofs came down to be used in house."
On the southern part of the architectural ensemble an economic courtyard was place, fenced off with a stone wall. Within courtyard relatively big stables were built. In accordance with writing of friar Petar Bakula, „from the south under a big wall of entry into the courtyard, which supports the plane and the stairs which lead into the garden and the vineyard, with a small courtyard there is a stable with a haystack, 16 cubits long and 11 cubits wide Behind the small threshing floor on the north against it leans a porch for domestic animals, and if a surplus of guests comes up, for thier horses as well, 15 cubits long and 6 cubits wide. All those buildings have been covered with hard stone slab and all of them (with exception of school), as the garden and the vineyard they have been surrounded with a hard high wall."
The structures were built from blocks of cut rubble. The corners of the structures were made prominent by properly dressed stone blocks. The structures were covered with gable roofs whose construction is nowadays completely caved in. The only structure built outside of the walls of the architectural ensemble of the Old Bishop place in Vukodol is a facility of a public school. Facility of a public school, built as a two-floored stone building in 1852, leans against the eastern fence wall of the architectural ensemble. A connection between architectural ensemble and the school building has been made with help of stairs.
